Carlos Acosta - Summer show in London Coliseum - ENO
Premiers will see Carlos perform five works for the first time and on the largest stage in London. These include: A new commission from Danza Contemporanea de Cuba's George Cespedes, a Carlos debut in Russell Maliphant's masterpiece Two, made famous in the version danced by Sylvie Guillem and now reworked for Carlos, the Royal Ballet Principal Zenaida Yanowsky dancing with Carlos in a new work by Edwaard Liang (NDT, New York City Ballet and many others), and a new music commission from Cuban violinist and composer Omar Puente, plus, Carlos's physically most revealing piece, a new mixed media collaboration with Simon Elliott of Ahh...Arts Igniting Minds, with emerging digital artists, Shaun O'Connor, Barry Gene Murphy, Mehmet (aka Memo) Akten, Anna Boberg aka Bopa, Peter Forde, Francesco Pastori, and featuring the magnificent Pegasus Choir. The night also features Zenaida Yanowsky in Kim Brandstrup's Footnote to Ashton.
Here is one of the video pieces created by Bopa with direction of Simon Elliott for the show. The piece was projected onto a 10m high gauze on stage.
On the 16th of July the final Jonathan Ross show was shown on BBC. Roxy Music was guests on the show and performed Virginia Plain, Love is a drug and In every dream home (this was not shown on TV). Bopa was there to perform the visuals live on the show. Here are the videos.
Roxy Music festival tour 2010
Roxy Music has been getting together this summer for a festival tour around Europe and Japan. Playing at festival such as Sonar Music Festival, Rock en Seine, Lovebox and many others. Bopa has been performing the psychadelic visuals for the stage backdrop with content mainly created by Ferry Gouw and Bopa, with art direction from Isaac Ferry.
Lumiere - Light festival in Durham - 12th - 15th of November
LUMIERE is a four-day festival that will brighten the historic city of Durham, bringing a sprinkle of winter magic to the North East. More than 50 artists will create a breathtaking series of installations, illuminations and performances using light. Lumiere will turn the city into a winter wonderland, transforming its stunning buildings, streets and riverbanks, with a nocturnal winter festival that will amaze residents and visitors alike.

Artist in Residence at Museums quartier in Vienna
Bopa was invited to take part in Quartier21 artist in residence programme at the Museums Quartier in Vienna as part of the Deutzer Freiheit artist collective from Cologne. In November and December 2008 the collective was given an artist studio in the MuseumsQuartier which we could use to create art for an exhibition at the Salon Projektionist, a gallery run by the famous austrian VJ collective 4youreye.
Bopa At The Big Chill Festival 7th Of August 2009, UK
I hope you managed to catch the Big Chill Festival in Eastnor Deer Park, Herefordshire, this summer. Bopa had a great slot on the mainstage friday night at 10.30 pm with legendary music producer and DJ Ashley Beedle, just before the headliners Basement Jaxx. The Big Chill Festival is one of UK's best festivals offering a highly evolved, all-round experience that is completely unique, with a wide variety of music and performance, art, comedy, dance and film; technology and its relationship with nature; identifying artists and nurturing their creativity. It is about energy, community and fun.
NMM - New Media Meeting // May 09 // Norrkoping, Sweden
NEW MEDIA MEETING
Bopa performed at NMM this year in Norrkoping, Sweden. DJ: Jesse Rose (UK) / VJ: BOPA closed the festival, with a performance in the Main hall, Saturday 30th of May 1am-3am.
NORDIC VISUAL 2
Bopa took part in the Nordic Visual group. Nordic Visual aims to bring together artists from the Nordic countries working within the new media and visualization field. Creators from the Nordic countries have been invited to spend three inspirational days in Norrköping, Sweden during New Media Meeting. The workshop is going to be crammed with interdisciplinary discussion, networking, exchanging experiences, new ideas and projects as well as working on collaborative productions. Everyone brings their specific competence, their ideas and their expression to the table to actively participate in creating new visual experiences on a given theme - the works will then be presented during the festival.

For the fourth year in a row New Media Meeting will embody contemporary digital culture and knowledge production by inviting artists, scientists and audience from all over the world. Just like previous years the program of 2009 will be full of inspiring lectures, workshops, concerts, audiovisual art and playful installations. New month, more days, an expanded lecture program and more performances ensures that NMM 2009 edition will be greater then ever. We no longer defy the fall weather, but initiate summer by claiming Industrilandskapet on the 28-30 of May. The festival also expands to three days and nights instead of the previous two. Resident VJ at Club NME - Koko - London, UK
Bopa becomes a resident VJ at Club NME with monthly performances at Koko - one of Londons premium venues situated in Camden in an old theatre building.
Since the Kaiser Chiefs declared club NME open in 2004, it has been THE place to catch the hottest new bands at the very beginnings of their careers. Klaxons, The Gossip, Foals, Glasvegas - they've all carted their own gear in through the back doors of a Club NME before hitting the big time. In the main room, resident DJs (on rotation) Mikey Four, Jeff Automatic & Simon Subsonic mix the hits of tomorrow with just a handful of classics to make it the best night in town!
Tunng at the Meltdown festival - Queen Elisabeth Hall
As Artistic Directors of Meltdown 2008, Massive Attack take over all 21 acres of Southbank Centre - including the riverside, Royal Festival Hall and Queen Elizabeth Hall - for nine days of concerts, DJ sets, talks, films and visual art specially chosen by Massive Attack. One of the acts for the festival is Tunng. Tunng is a musical collective, combining folk, electronica and underground art music to make darkly beautiful pastoral pop. KIA Soul Club Tour presented by MTV - Germany
Bopa performed at two out of four dates in Germany of the Kia - Soul Club Tour presented by MTV. House meets Rock, Jazz, Soul and Electro when MTV and KIA Motors brings the groove to the city. The sound experience is enhanced with an unusual set design and complex video installations. Video art direction by Bruno Tait.
